We Review the New Movie “Life”
Life is a movie for the thriller-seekers. I wouldn’t say it’s a scary movie but definitely has quite a few jump scares. It’s about a team of scientists on the International Space Station finding a new extraterrestrial organism that distinguishes all life on Mars. As they conduct their research, the organism reacts dangerously and intelligently for its survival.
I have to say, the concept of the film is pretty awesome. This is coming from a person who’s not the biggest fan of alien/ extraterrestrial movies. These scientists have found a new, living micro-organism outside of Earth. They begin to study and experiment with it. Not the crucial type of experimentation that you hear about in Area 51 but just enough to “wake it up”. This is about 30 to 45 minutes into the movie.
At this point, The movie takes an expected turn. The last experiment they conduct on the little guy turns into every other alien movie. Someone decides to make it angry in some way, and then the alien decides to kill everyone… I won’t spoil anything for anyone, but for some reason, this thing becomes extremely intelligent and unbelievably strong out of nowhere. Then, it becomes the most intense game of hide-and-go-seek.
The End (possible spoilers)
Now, here is where it definitely becomes the stereotypical alien movie. The last 5 minutes of the movie (or so) becomes highly predictable. There are two survivors left on the ISS. One will draw the monster away and the other to live and tell the tale. Which survivor crashes on Earth and the other to float away into deep space? Either survivor could have the monster on board their ship. You’ll never know!
Go and watch this movie. You may or may not have the same rating I have given the movie. Tell us what you think about it. What did you enjoy (or not enjoy) about the film? What would you have liked to see in the film?
