We Review the Latest Episode of Lucifer SN02 EP14 – ‘Candy Morningstar’

Lucifans rejoice!! Our handsome devil is back and seems up to his old tricks. Last night on Lucifer, following Chloe’s near-death, Lucifer disappears and cuts off all contact with family and the police department, be materialises in time to help solve the murder of an up-and-coming guitarist and introduce the department to a ditzy stripper, the new woman in his life. **SPOILERS AHEAD**

After two week’s of Lucifer (Tom Ellis) being MIA he final decides to show his face again, but it’s like nothing ever happened. Except for his new wife! Lucifer explains to Chloe (Lauren German) that he had some family issues and needed time to himself.  So what else does one do…. you go to Las Vegas and blow off steam, and one thing led to another, and now the handsome devil has bagged himself a wife, Mrs Candy Morningstar (Lindsey Gort). Dan (Kevin Alejandro) and Chloe are not impressed with Lucifer’s antics and Chole especially for being ghosted by Lucifer, so she decides to bench him from the latest murder case of Asher Corrigan. Chloe tells Lucifer that their partnership was over and she no longer needs him. However, their chief suspect is not taking, and she needs Lucifer’s help. The suspect was the mediator in Ash’s divorce and has shown up in a photo at the murder scene.

The only way to speak to the mediator Anthony Annan (Jonathan Togo) was by making an appointment with Candy. Chloe is clearly not over the moon about Lucifers new wife. Maz (Lesley-Ann Brandt) tells Chole she is the one who needs a mediator with Lucifer. Choe takes Candy’s place at the mediation session, and Lucifer had hoped by helping Chloe that she would forgive him and see his is trying to make amends, but Chloe is pissed at him and rightly so! Chloe nearing dying had a huge effect on Lucifer and Chloe finally understands now that he was scared. While bickering like a married couple, the pair figured out where the mediator fit in and why he was snapped at the crime scene. Apparently, he helped Ash get most of his ex-wife’s money, he was the band’s number one fan and wanted them to go far. He and Ash had used the money to buy up most of the band’s CD’s, which flooded sales and got the band on the charts.

Lucifer and Candy head to see Dr Linda (Rachael Harris), Lucifer doesn’t understand why Chloe has benched him, Hoping Dr Linda would provide him with insight. The team learn that Ash thought the band should start trimming the fat and wanted to fire Marla (Minni Jo Mazzola), the band’s guitarist. Ash thought they could do better, so he was going to fire Marla on the night he died, but she never mentioned that when the police spoke to her, so Chloe has a few more question for Marla, Ella (Aimee Garcia) has found Marla’s DNA on Ash’s guitar. Chloe goes without Lucifer to talk to Marla, but Lucifer showed up at the club and played Eternal Flame for Chloe, knowing how much she loved the Bangles. Chloe is quickly finding it is very hard to be angry at Lucifer, after all, he managed to smoked Marla out. The two question her and she had no idea that Ash was going to fire her and she had an alibi with video footage to back it up. That’s when they see the drummer of the band with a guitar in his hand, and he was the last one to have touched the guitar when he packed up the equipment.

Amenadiel (D.B.Woodside) speaks with Lucifer, and he lets slip to big brother that he married Candy to protect Chloe from him. Amenadiel tells Lucifer their mother is worried sick and he needs to talk to her. Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) feels partially guilty for Lucifer being so damaged and broken that he married Candy on a whim. Lucifer gives in and sees his mother, and he tells her that he doesn’t forgive her through he understands she just wants what’s best for him. Charlotte apologises for manipulating him, and she just wanted them to go home to the Silver City. She tells Lucifer that his rebellion would have won if he had of had the flaming sword. The sword has been in their possession all along and that they have everything they need to get back to the Silver City and God would be able to do a thing to stop them.

Lucifer’s had said he married Candy because she was in a bad situation and he had rescued her, but Candy who really wasn’t as ditzy as we thought, had helped the clever devil to con his mother, to learn of her plans and it worked, Charlotte had told Lucifer everything. Lucifer and Chloe head to the drummer Doug’s (James Neate) house, Doug surprises Lucifer and starts strangling him, Chloe fires her weapon and hits Doug in the shoulder, he had killed Ash because he had suddenly wanted to go solo just as the band was gaining traction. Candy tells Lucifer he shouldn’t continue to mess up things with Chloe and it was evident how much Chloe cared for him and it obvious how much Lucifer cares for Chloe.

  • Brilliant first episode back! It great to have them back. It great to Lucifer is still up to his old tricks and clearly hasn't just disregarded Chloe, he is protecting her. I liked the wife pity she was just a plant to find out Mother's plans.
