We Review The Expanse SN02 EP05 – ‘Home’

Make sure you're caught up cause the action moves fast in a roller coaster ride episode!

WOW! This episode moves FAST! It was just what I’ve/we’ve been asking for from the show runners. All of the tantalizing tension and excitement is satisfied as we finally have some big, plot-changing events.

Because it moves so fast, I’m going to keep this one short and sweet and simply let the actual episode speak for itself. I’d hate to ruin it for you by giving away too many plot points so… Enjoy!

Remember, if you need to watch this episode or previous ones you can catch up over on SyFy.com

Episode 4 Recap

The action for Episode 5 is set up in Episode 4 so make sure you watch them as close together as possible.

Avarasala figures out the secret relationship between Errinwright and Jules-Pierre Mao, while she and Fred Johnson enter into one of their own.

Meanwhile, Holden, Miller, Naomi, Amos, and Alex prepare to deal with Eros Station on their own. Everything is going fine until they come across a ship staffed with a crew of Aid Workers trying to help those still on Eros Station.

Dealing with Eros Station

Because the action and scenes jump back and forth between Earth, Tycho Station, Eros, and The Rocinante, this episode is hard to summarize so I’ll do my best.

Eros Station has taken on a life of its own and is on a collision course with Earth. It’s moving so fast it’s hard for The Rocinante to keep up.

Miller decides the best thing to do is make his way into Eros Station and find the center of the proto-molecule. The plan is he’ll use the bomb he still has to blow up whatever is controlling the virus and Eros Station.

As he makes his way to the center of the station, it becomes harder and harder for The Crew of The Rocinante to stay in touch with him. He also starts hearing voices and seeing clues that the proto-molecule has evolved into something totally different.

Finally, The Crew is able to let him know Earth has launched an arsenal of missile intending to blow Eros Station up before it smashes into Earth. Miller is quickly running out of time.

With Eros accelerating faster than The Rocinante can, it becomes apparent it’s up to Miller to save Earth and the Galaxy. The Rocinante agrees to follow and sacrifice themselves if they have to.

Finally reaching the epicenter, Miller discovers something he never expected. This discovery is the key to saving everyone.

Dealing with Earth

On Earth, as Avarasala is fielding complaints about the evacuation and misuse of The Nauvoo, she and The Earth U.N. receive the news of Eros Station’s collision course with them.

After sorting themselves out, The U.N. decides their best option is to launch their missile arsenal at Eros Station.

With the Martians agreeing to stay out of the way, the missiles are launched. The entire Galaxy waits in suspense. Before the missiles reach their destination, they’re informed of Eros Station’s speed and that only Miller can save them. Johnson offers to help, but they cannot decide whether to trust him or not.

She is also finally contacted by Holden to let her know The Rocinante will do what they can. It’s the first time anyone on Earth has heard from him since Season 1.

Eventually, everyone in the Galaxy watches helplessly as the events unfold and change the course of humanity forever.

Final Thoughts

Believe it or not, what I’m about to tell you is not a spoiler. If you’ve been following the show, you knew this would happen.

Eros collides with Earth…possibly exposing the proto-molecule to the whole planet and Galaxy.

It’s clear the show is now going to totally change direction. The collision opens up so many possible plot twists that it can essentially be viewed as a new beginning for the TV series.

I’m so filled with wonder and excitement at what’s to come that I can’t wait. I’ve been campaigning for the show and telling everyone I know to watch it. So far, I’ve everyone has agreed the show is great. Hopefully with Season 1 now available across the¬†world to stream it will only get more and more popular.

See you soon for Episode 6 “Paradigm Shift”.
