We Look at Josh Brolin Playing Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’
Marvel fans, the debates, and suggestions can end now. Josh Brolin has been confirmed to play the time-traveling mutant soldier, Thanos… I mean Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’. Cable is the son of ‘X-Men’ leader Cyclops and is a mentor of the ‘New Mutants’. Many names were thrown around the Marvel Universe as to who will play the part. Brad Pitt and Stephen Lang were the most mentionable and popular choices. Brolin was a curveball, to say the least, especially given the fact that he is already playing a huge part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the mighty titan Thanos. Though this wouldn’t be the first time an actor jumped from one comic book character to the next. Ryan Reynolds, star of Deadpool 2, is also guilty of playing Green Lantern and the rough draft version of Deadpool in X-Men Origins, a very very very rough version of Deadpool **shivers. Personally, I’m glad the Deadpool franchise has made a comeback and redeemed any old botched versions of himself. I mean the Merc without a Mouth just doesn’t sound right and shouldn’t have been done in the first place.
Brolin is expected to put on quite a performance next year in Avengers: Infinity Wars as the ‘Mad Titan’ Thanos, while he’s already made his cameo debut in multiple Marvel films such as Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, we haven’t seen much screen time with the supervillain. As for playing Cable, it definitely is an interesting choice, as both Cable and Thanos are completely different characters in both personality and appearance. We’ll have to wait and see how Brolin adapts from being a mighty destructive god to a mutant hunting mercenary. As for Brolin playing both roles of Thanos and Cable, I really hope Deadpool does the classic Deadpool thing and breaks the fourth wall to deliver a great joke regarding the elephant in the room… I almost can guarantee they have something up their sleeves for that.
The chemistry between Cable and Deadpool has already been established in the “Cable & Deadpool” graphic book series from 2004 to 2008. Seeing the personalities clash is bound to make a splash in the box office as Deadpool is the looser, lovable, troll we’ve become fond of while Cable is the hard hat, military, serious type of role. Both still absolute savages when it comes to the battlefield and both completely raw and unfiltered. Director David Leitch‘s Deadpool 2 is due to release sometime in 2018.
