The Man From U.N.C.L.E. to Return?
The movie The Man from U.N.C.L.E. from 2015 might be getting a sequel. Lionel Wigram, the co-screenwriter of the first movie, has started to write the sequel to the movie because of some nudging by on the leads Armie Hammer, who played Illya Kuryakin. After being asked several times about whether or not a sequel was happening; Armie Hammer took it upon himself to ask Lionel Wigram about the status. Lionel Wigram caved and said he will be writing a sequel.
The movies are based on the 1960’s series which aired from 1964 till 1967 and ran for four seasons. The movies as well as the series revolve around Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin who are two spies (in the film played by Henry Cavill and Arnie Hammer), from America and Russia respectively, who work together for an international espionage organisation named United Network Command for Law and Enforcement or U.N.C.L.E. for short. Both the movie and the series take part during the height of the Cold War.
For now we only know that the sequel is being written. It is uncertain if and when the movie will be made and who will be participating in any level. However there is a better chance than before that the sequel will be made since the script is being written. And both the screenwriter and the director, Guy Ritchie, are in good books with Warner Brothers so chances are good even though the first The Man from U.N.C.L.E. didn’t meet its expectations at the box office. Not gonna bore you with figures, because the financial figures does not tell you everything about a movie. Some earn more after the box office period.
Because they left the movie at a bit of an open end there is room for more adventures by the duo and the organization they work for.
Seeing that they are just in the writing stages of this movie nothing can be said about who is directing or even if the lead actors will return to reprise their roles. There is not even a hint about the overall outline of the movie plot. So the waiting game has started for more information.
As to feel some of the feels again from the first movie watch the trailer below.
So what are your thoughts about the sequel? A good thing or not. Not all series should be made into a movie and vice versa. What do you think? Is this concept better of as a series or a movie?
