The short but sweet teaser shows the full Defender’s line up of Matthew Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil, Danny Rand a.k.a. Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage all standing together in a lift, via grainy CCTV footage. After a few seconds, Jessica seems to realise they are being watched, and she turns and glances at the camera before cutting the feed.
As Jessica cuts the feed, the timestamp in the corner reveals the official date that the full series will be available to stream on Netflix, 08:18:2017 – the 18th August, 2017.
While only a short teaser, it’s a fulfilling one that allows us a glimpse into the Netflix superhero team-up, and finally gives fans the all-important release date they’ve been waiting for.
The Defenders will combine the four heroes we’ve already seen in their original series, which were:
– Daredevil, which premiered its first season on Netflix on 10th April 2015. Blinded by a chemical accident as a boy, Catholic lawyer Matthew Murdock is a vigilante by night, ruthlessly defending Hells Kitchen from those who threaten it’s residents.
– Jessica Jones, which premiered 20th November 2015. A private detective with superhuman strength, Jessica has always been good at running from her past – until a missing girl plays out an all too familiar and awful chapter from Jessica’s past.
– Luke Cage, premiered 30th September 2016. Living in the heart of Harlem, Luke Cage is an ex-convict trying to live quietly with a job as a janitor, until a crimelord and his gang overstep their mark – then it’s time for Luke to put his bulletproof skin and enhanced strength to the test.
– Iron Fist, the most recent of the four, which aired on Netflix on 17th March 2017. When Danny Rand returns home from fifteen years of missing, it’s natural his old colleagues at Rand Corp. would be suspicious. But as Danny fights to prove his name and reconnect with lost friends, there may be more hiding beneath the surface of the company his father built.
