Stan Lee to Make Final Utah Comic-Con Appearance

Stan Lee has confirmed that his guest appearance at Salt Lake’s Comic Con FanXperience this March will be his final appearance there, for the foreseeable future. Utah fans should get in quickly, as tickets to meet the comic legend will sell out incredibly quickly, and meeting Stan Lee is truly a momentous occasion for any Marvel Comics fan.

Lee has also wound down his touring appearances quite a lot in the past few years – he made his final European appearance at London Film and Comic Con in July 2014, and his final visit to Canada was in 2016 at Fan Expo Canada. It looks like Lee is only confirmed for a few more dates in 2017 before he steps away from his touring schedule.

FanX co-founder Bryan Brandenburg says; “We want him to live to be 130, and he probably will. But even Stan Lee has to slow down when he’s approaching 95.

“We’re honoured he’s coming here for his last tour.”

Lee also filmed his most recent infamous Marvel movie cameos all in one hit, to avoid flying out three separate times back and forth to different locations. One of these cameos has been seen in Marvel’s recent Doctor Strange starring Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, The Imitation Game, Zoolander 2), Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Sherlock Holmes, Mean Girls), Benedict Wong (The Martian, Moon, Black Mirror) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Triple 9, 12 Years a Slave, Half of a Yellow Sun) and the other two cameos will be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation, Jurassic World, Her), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, Avatar, Live by Night), Dave Bautista (Spectre, The Boss, Marauders), Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, Limitless, 10 Cloverfield Lane) and Vin Diesel (Fast and Furious Franchise, xXx, Riddick), and Spider-Man: Homecoming which will star Marvel newcomers Zendaya (Shake it Up!, Zapped, Frenemies), Donald Glover (Community, Atlanta, The Martian), Michael Keaton (The Birdman, Batman, Spotlight) and will also feature Tom Holland (In the Heart of the Sea, The Impossible, Captain America: Civil War), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man, The Judge, Sherlock Holmes) and Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Chef, The Jungle Book) reprising their already established Marvel roles.

Stan Lee has worked for Marvel Comics since 1939 when it was first named Timely Comics, and has worked alongside multiple artists including Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko to create Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, Daredevil, the X-Men and so many other iconic and beloved characters in the huge Marvel Comics universe.

A true icon in the comic book world, he’s also a delight for fans to meet, posing for photo ops and talking excitedly about what he loves most – comic books, and his career within them. He’s just as much of a fan of comic books as the lucky Con attendees who get to meet him.

Lee is only appearing on the Saturday at Salt Lake’s Comic Con FanXperience, so make sure you get in quick and purchase your tickets and photo op’s if you’re planning on attending!

Salt Lake’s Comic Con FanXperience will be taking place on March 17th and 18th, 2017 at the Salt Palace Convention Centre.
