‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Teases New Trailer as Official Vulture Images Released
Marvel and Sony have confirmed there will be a new trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming released tomorrow.
A short teaser has been released online by Marvel and Sony, and posted to Tom Holland’s (In the Heart of the Sea, Billy Elliot, The Lost City of Z) Instagram account which confirms that tomorrow, there will be a new theatrical trailer for the highly anticipated web-slinging solo movie.
The teaser is only seven seconds long, but it’s fairly tasty – it shows a small robotic spider fly off of Spider-Man as he holds onto a large tower, before cutting to The Vulture crashing down onto the top of a plane, and Spider-Man being thrown back, barely missing being sucked into the engines.
To coincide with this, Marvel and Sony have also released the first official images of Michael Keaton (Beetlejuice, Batman, Spotlight) as Adrian Toomes a.k.a. The Vulture, alongside some more information about his history.
Adrian Toomes is a businessman running a salvaging business cleaning up after major superhero battles in cities, like those from The Avengers. However, an agency under the command of Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, takes over in the wake of the events of Captain America: Civil War, and Toomes is left out of the job, causing him to become what producer Eric Hauserman Carroll describes “sort of…the dark Tony Stark.”
“He thinks once he has this money and power, he’ll have more control of his life,” Carroll says.
The Vulture will also be joined by two other Marvel supervillains making their cinematic debuts, the Shocker (Bokeem Woodbine – Riddick, Ray, Fargo) and the Tinkerer (Michael Chernus – The Most Hated Woman in America, Patriot, Orange Is the New Black).
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be Tom Holland’s solo debut as Spider-Man. Following the events of Captain America: Civil War it will focus on Peter Parker as he balances his life between being a superhero and a high school student. Further casting includes Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock Holmes, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Chef) reprising his role as Tony Stark, Zendaya (Shake It Up!, Black-ish, K.C. Undercover) as Michelle, Marisa Tomei (The Perez Family, Slums of Beverly Hills, Crazy, Stupid, Love.) as Aunt May.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is scheduled for release on the 7th July 2017.
