The world class rock and roll legend Charles “Chuck” Berry has died aged 90, police in US state of Missouri report.
St Charles County police report that Berry was found at his home unresponsive at lunchtime on Saturday. Over his seven-decade career, Berry had a string of hits, including Johnny B Goode, Maybellene, Roll Over Beethoven and countless others.
Berry was a pioneer of rock and roll and had a significant influence on the development of both the music and the attitude associated with the rock music lifestyle. Berry also refined and developed rhythm and blues into the major elements that made rock and roll so distinctive and utilising guitar solos and showmanship that would be a major influence on subsequent rock music.
In 1984 Berry received a lifetime achievement Grammy, and he was also amongst the first inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. Chuck Berry is and always will be a Rock and Roll legend!
