‘The Purge’ TV Series Plot Revealed

***THIS IS NOT A TEST. This is your emergency broadcast system, announcing the commencement of the Annual Purge sanctioned by the U.S Government.***

The Purge is looking to branch out from being limited to the big screen. Now we get to witness the dystopian society “celebrate” the wicked holiday on our television screens. James DeMonaco confirmed he’d be working on writing and directing the series back in April with Blumhouse Television producing the show.

USA and Syfy will be showing the series. At an NBC upfront presentation in New York, CEO Jason Blum revealed the show would be circling around the days leading up to and following the annual Purge day.

Per DeMonaco

“When they came to me and said, ‘Are you interested?’ I was like — because I was writing Purge 4 at the time — I was like, ‘Oh, I don’t know, so much Purge-ing!’ But what’s great about Purge TV is that the ten hours they’ll be giving us, it allows us to explore character, why someone on this night would do something so heinous as pick up a gun or a knife and do something. It’s exciting because it opens up the idea in a way that I couldn’t do in a 95-minute movie.”

We completely agree, James. While I’ve always enjoyed the Purge movies, I’ve always felt that jam packing an entire national holiday where everything is legal is way too big of a concept to limit to a single movie.

Heck, the first movie was all focused around one single household. It was the 2nd and 3rd movie where we got to witness the outside activity of the Purge and just how chaotic and messy America would be if the law were passed.

One thing we do know is that the big wig politicians are still powerful and even more twisted than they appear on Purge day. We can only assume that some brutal things are happening behind the curtains the other 364 days of the year and we’ll get to find out soon enough (somewhere in 2018)!
