Peter Dinklage in Talks to Join “Avengers: Infinity War”
Sources have claimed Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones, X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Station Agent) is in talks to have a key role in Avengers: Infinity War.
Avengers: Infinity War begins shooting this January, filming in Atlanta, USA, London, England, and allegedly some scenes will be shot in Edinburgh, Scotland. The timing of this filming fits Dinklage’s schedule perfectly, as Season 7 of fantasy series Game of Thrones has just wrapped up their own shoot. Dinklage plays a major role in the hit-series, Tyrion Lannister, a disgraced son of the Lannister House who consistently seems to have a hand in others affairs.
Avengers: Infinity War was already looking incredibly action packed with an all star cast including Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Not Another Teen Movie), Robert Downey Jr. (The Judge, Iron Man, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang), Scarlett Johansonn (Lucy, Lost in Translation, Iron Man 2) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor, In the Heart of the Sea, Rush), who will be reprising their roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Brie Larson (Room, 21 Jump Street, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World) will be making her movie debut as Captain Marvel, and it was recently announced Tom Holland (The Impossible, Captain America: Civil War, The Lost City of Z) and Zoe Saldana (Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Trek, Live By Night) will definitely be returning to reprise their roles as Spider-Man and Gamora – now there’s the addition of Peter Dinklage, and many questions surrounding who he could possibly be.
Dinklage has already dabbled in the Marvel universe, however it was unrelated to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and was Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past in which he played Dr. Boliver Trask, a scientist who experimented on mutants to create the Sentinal army in hopes of destroying a mutant uprising against humankind. So who could he possibly be playing in the wide-spread MCU?
Speculation has pointed to Lord Order/Master Chaos, brothers who played a hand in the Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet comic-book storyline and he could potentially play one, or both of them. Other speculation has looked towards The Watcher – a celestial being that keeps an eye on everyone in the Marvel Universe, and consistently knows where they are and their current doings. It’d be an ideal role for Dinklage, however, Fox own the rights to this character as he originally appeared in the X-Men graphic novels. Fox have handed over mutants before (Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch for Avengers: Age of Ultron), however we will just have to wait and see as Marvel have refused to comment and kept their secrets, as per, under heavy wraps.
Avengers: Infinity War is on-track for a release on May 4th, 2018.
