Pepper Potts May Return in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’
The last time we saw Tony Stark’s partner and CEO of Stark Industries Pepper Potts was all the way back in Iron Man 3 in 2013. Briefly mentioned in a bickering match between Tony and Thor, Potts then wasn’t mentioned again until Captain America: Civil War, where Tony admits that he and Pepper are on a break.
However, if rumours are true, it looks like this break may be addressed between the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first couple.
Marvel and Sony have not confirmed Pepper Potts return, so at the moment these are simply strong rumours. However, the appearance of Pepper Potts could be Paltrow’s last time bringing the red-head to life, and it would make sense for her to come back as the villain The Vulture has a huge grudge against Tony Stark and Stark Industries. As acting CEO of the company, it would be completely reasonable she would have to get involved, even if only briefly.
Potts role could also stand to help see where Tony Stark is emotionally after the events of the Civil War – although again, this may only be brief as this is Tom Holland’s (Wolf Hall, In the Heart of the Sea, Edge of Winter) big solo debut as the web-slinger, and will focus predominantly on Peter Parker’s story and how other characters interact with him.
For now, we will just have to wait and see – though eagle-eyed fans did spot in the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer that Peter is sporting a t-shirt that Pepper Potts wore in Iron Man 3.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be in theatres July 7th 2017.
