PCPB Kickstarter Spotlight: Toronto Comics Younge At Heart

If you were ever curious about the Toronto, Ontario Canada comic book scene, Toronto Comics Younge At Heart is an excellent anthology to invest in, with up and coming artists and writers and some established ones showcasing their storytelling talents.

The editors, Steven Andrews, Aaron Feldman, and Allison O’Toole, brought together a team of 39 local artist and writers. According to Jim Zub (“Thunderbolts”, “Samurai Jack”), “Toronto is a wellspring of creative talent, and this anthology is a perfect way to introduce people to the next generation of Canadian comic creators.”

Hope Nicholson (“Secret Loves of Geek Girls”, “Nelvana”) says “The talent in Toronto is incredible, and this collection goes a long way to highlight the depth, ability, and diversity of emerging comic book storytellers in this city. Watch these names – if you don’t know them yet, you will soon!” Both the first two crowdfunding campaigns vastly exceeded their goals, proving that Toronto audiences are hungry for stories starring the city they love.

Volume 4 features a foreword by Jeff Lemire (“Essex County”, “Moon Knight”) and a new cover by Adam Gorham (“Rocket!”, “The Violent”).

The book will be debuting at TCAF  (Toronto Comic Art Festival) on May 13-14, 2017. About the Toronto Comics Anthology, The Toronto Comics Anthology is an annual series dedicated to celebrating upcoming GTA (Greater Toronto Area) creators. Toronto Comics Anthology History

2017: Yonge At Heart

This full-colour anthology is ambitious and jammed full of incredible creators. This is our first project in colour and is about taking our anthology project to the next level. The stories are great, the talent fierce, and we’re really excited to share these unique and heartfelt stories with you!

2016: Volume 3
This 300-page mammoth was a who’s who of upcoming TO talent, and we saw both the production quality and audience grow enormously from the previous projects. Our Kickstarter successfully funded for 12.4k CDN, and we launched at TCAF 2016.

2015: Volume 2
We decided to push forward with a second book and tested crowdfunding through Kickstarter to help grow the project. It was an enormous success, earning 1440% of our goal, and we launched the book at TCAF 2015.

2014: Volume 1
Students from Ty Templeton’s Comicbook Bootcamp decided to put our education to use and started making comics. Writers covered print costs, while artists donated their work. Our first book was 90 pages long and received an enthusiastic response at Toronto comic conventions.
