On Twitter, Reel News Hawaii was once again able to give fans a glimpse of members of the Inhuman royal family as shooting commenced during the day. The photos show what looks like the Royal Family making an entrance amongst adoring fans – and if you look really closely, you can spot Serinda Swan (TRON: Legacy, Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief, Graceland) as Medusa and Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones, Misfits, Residue) as Maximus in these far away shots.
Medusa, the Queen of the Inhumans, is much easier to spot with her signature crimson hair, and regal purple gown. Walking closely behind her follows Maximus, fondly known in the comics as Maximus the Mad.
Also spotted in the photos are Auran, the Head of the Royal Guards, and Black Bolt, the King of the Inhumans, Medusa’s husband and Maximus’s older brother. They are portrayed by Sonya Balmores (Soul Surfer, Ride the Wake, Kuleana) and Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels, In Her Shoes, Non-Stop) respectively.
Previously released set photos have already given us our first look at Anson Mount as Black Bolt, who has a voice so powerful that even a whisper could level an entire city. The Inhumans were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965, and since then have risen to prominence and popularity. ABC and Marvel’s Inhumans will focus on the never-before-seen story of the Inhuman’s Royal Family, and their struggles in a world who know about the existance of Inhumans.
Inhumans have been introduced in the Marvel universe before, in ABC’s other television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Inhumans that have made it onto their impressive roster include Quake, played by Chloe Bennet, Yo-Yo played by Natalia Cordova-Buckley (Bates Motel, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot, McFarland, USA), Hellfire as played by Axel Whitehead (Home and Away, Shameless, The Southern), Hive mostly portrayed by Brett Dalton (Beside Still Waters, Until Dawn, Lost in Florence), and many more. However, the Royal Family have never been on our screens before, and Marvel have not confirmed or denied if the Inhumans from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be incorporated or even mentioned in this new series.
The cast for Inhumans has officially been completed, and includes Isabelle Cornish (Puberty Blues, Home and Away, Sea of Fire) as Crystal, Medusa’s sister, Eme Ikwuakor (Extant, Concussion, Ink) as Gorgon, Black Bolt’s fiery tempered cousin and leader of his military force and Ken Leung (The Sopranos, Rush Hour, Lost) who has been cast as Karnak, an advisor to Black Bolt, martial arts expert and philosopher to their people.
The first two episodes of Inhumans will premiere in over 1,000 IMAX theatres across the globe — for a two-week run — starting on September 1, 2017. ABC will then premiere the weekly television series on Tuesday, September 26.
