New Images Release from “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” as Gamora and Spider-Man Confirmed for “Avengers: Infinity War”
Recently, Marvel has been spoiling us a bit – as new images are released for the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, it’s also been confirmed that Gamora will be returning for Avengers: Infinity War, and Tom Holland (In the Heart of the Sea, Captain America: Civil War, The Impossible) let slip that he will be reprising his role as Spider-Man in the next Avengers installment.
The newly released images from the highly anticipated sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy feature a few action shots, some character stills, and of course – high definition images of Baby Groot.
But alongside these snaps came some welcoming news – Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, Live by Night, Rosemary’s Baby) has confirmed she’ll be reprising her role as Gamora, introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Guardians of the Galaxy as Thanos’s “adopted” daughter. Adopted used very lightly here, as he wiped out her entire home and took her hostage to make into a weapon before dubbing her his daughter.
Saldana confirmed at the Golden Globes Awards that she’ll be reprising the role, though admitted she has not seen the script yet.
“I don’t know when they’re going to let me see it. I’m not looking forward to the five hours of green make up, but every time I arrive on set, I’m so happy and lucky to be there.”
Tom Holland’s reveal that he’ll be reprising his role as the web-slinging teenage vigilante came from an interview with the Italian magazine L’Uomo Vogue, which was posted on the Italian Tom Holland fan-page, Italia Tom Holland.
Loosely translated, Holland told the interviewer that it was a combined effort of Iron Man and Captain America themselves, Robert Downey Jr. (The Judge, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, Sherlock Holmes) and Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger, Snowpiercer, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World), who convinced Marvel that Holland was worth keeping on board for the length Marvel contracts – “including Avengers: Infinity War.”
Avengers: Infinity War will be the first in a two-part story focusing on the Avengers, both old and new, and their hugest battle yet. Set to begin production this month, filming locations include various parts of Scotland and London in the UK, and in Atlanta of the USA. With a huge cast, including reprising characters such as Chris Hemsworth (In the Heart of the Sea, Rush, Ghostbusters)as Thor and Sebastian Stan (The Martian, Political Animals, Gossip Girl) as Bucky Barnes, and new additions such as Brie Larson (21 Jump Street, Room, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World) making her debut as Captain Marvel, Avengers: Infinity War is set to be one of the hugest Marvel blockbusters we’ve ever seen.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be in cinemas April 28th, 2017, and Avengers: Infinity War is on schedule for release May 4th, 2018.
