Lucha Underground the BEST Wrestling Show on the Planet!
To quote my dear friend Kurt Angle, it’s true, yes it’s DAMN TRUE, that Lucha Underground is the best wrestling show on the planet. Sorry WWE, NJPW, Impact or whatever yourself you’re calling yourself these days but you all quite frankly suck compare to the awesomeness that is Lucha Underground. Oh by the way if you don’t believe me that Kurt Angle is my friend, check out this video below! BOO-YA!!! Yeah I know it’s a video greeting but still it’s one from the best of all time so narr narr ne narr narr 😛
Anyway back to the matter at hand I said I was gunna tell you why Lucha Underground is the best wrestling show on the planet and here’s why! I could argue this all evening so I’ll keep it brief with three points of why LU is the BEST wrestlign show on the planet!
They know how to use talents that WWE and Impact don’t.
John Morrison and Justin Gabriel were two of the most exciting talents that WWE had in a generation except typical WWE didn’t know what to do with them and sadly they were left to become bland flip floppy back flipping and front flipping (yes I said that) generic babyfaces before fading into obscurity. It’s a shame because both had an awesome look and even better talent but WWE just didn’t know what to do with them.
In Lucha Underground John Morrison now the egotisitcal Johnny Mundo was given the ball and told to run with it and now we see what could have been in the WWE if they had given him a chance. Some could argue that the beginnings of this character were forged in the WWE and you may be right but this character was started and stalled so many times it lost all momentum so I consider this version of John a LU original . Don’t believe me? Check out this video that makes him look like a legit boss!
The same goes for Justin Gabriel, yeah in WWE he did an awesome 450 splash and you can argue he was given a prominent role in the Nexus but that didn’t last long before the usual John Cena burial and he left after being used as Adam Rose’s bunny. yes the man Justin Gabriel was dressed as a rabbit support a jobber who ripped off Russell Brand *shudders*, seriously WWE what were you thinking? No wonder he left!
So what did Justin Gabriel do in LU he partnered up with Johnny ‘FREAKING’ Mundo! Yes you can stop drooling at that prospect now. ROLL THE DAMN tape, ok it’s a YouTube video. click on the link below!
Heck these are just two of the many names that LU have helped become stars that would have been wasted if they stayed in WWE, you also got Sami Callihan, Ezekiel Jackson and it’s not just WWE, Impact Wrestling outcast Judas Mesias (damn he had talent!) was even reborn as the monster badass Mil Muertes. Even ex WWE mainstays Rey Myserio and Chavo Guerrero are experiencing career renaissances in LU.
Now if only Heath Slater and Rusev could jump ship hmmmm.
You hate PG? So do they!
Yes the PG era sucks ass and yes the ‘New’ era is just a code name that they use to mask the fact it’s still a slightly different thing but underneath it’s still the same. Think Coke and Diet Coke and you get my drift. Anyway I digress, the point is most WWE fans say it sucks because it’s PG well LU certainly isn’t PG you wan’t men wrestling women? It happens all the time, you wan’t insane matches? That happens to! Check out arguably one of the best hardcore matches of recent times between Prince Puma (that’s Ricochet to you casual fans) and Mil Muertes, seriously it is just badass!
They have crazy ass storylines!
Joey Ryan as an undercover cop, spooky ghosts and men who were masks kept in cages. No this is not the latest episode of Scooby Doo these are some of the storylines you get every week in Lucha Underground. They even had a woman win their big championship! LU is awesome at working on their storylines and this is partly down to the company being founded by another WWE ledge that people forget Chris DeJoseph aka Big Dick Johnson. In case you forgot who he is? Enjoy this video below!
A large part of us watch wrestling for a suspension from reality yes we know it’s not real but that doesnt stop us watching it and enjoy it, it’s a soap opera for men, a soap opera where meeting int he local greasy spoon is replaced with a chair shot to the head. This is what LU does so good it is actually like a soap opera but with wrestling instead of Dot Cotton (my English readers will get this reference.
I could go on forever highlight why Lucha Underground is the best show in the planet but I’ll let the wrestling do the talking and I plan to do a weekly series on why Lucha is the best so look out for my next part featuring the most underated talent of Lucha Underground!
