John Boyega Tweets Promo Image for ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’

On top of tweeting out official images for his aliens-vs.-robots blockbuster sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising, John Boyega (Attack the Block, My Murder, 24: Live Another Day) has also released official artwork for the hugely anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the eight episode in the official Star Wars story, following on from 2016’s release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Starring Daisy Ridley (Lifesaver, Mr Selfridge, Silent Witness) as Rey, John Boyega as Finn and Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina, Inside Llewyn Davis, Drive) as Poe Dameron, Star Wars: The Force Awakens focused on rogue Stormtrooper Finn as he escapes with captured pilot Poe Dameron from the First Order’s regime. In their escape, they encounter Rey, a young woman waiting for her family to return for her on Jakku. However, their missions become entwined as they discover they have the secrets to locating the long lost, and last remaining Jedi, Luke Skywalker, and that finding him could save the galaxy once again.

Not much is known about where the story will continue for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. With the horrific loss to the universe in the last episode, and the uncertainty of exactly who Rey’s family are, no one can predict for certain where the franchise is taking audiences next. There are predictions, of course, that Luke Skywalker is actually Rey’s biological father.

The franchise already had to confirm that, following the devastating passing of beloved Carrie Fisher (Star Wars Franchise, Entourage, Wonderland) that though her role as General would be vital to the next episode, they would not be returning her to the screen in CGI form.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is currently scheduled for release on 15th December 2017.
