Is It Coming Back? Deadwood Revival Movie Script Submitted to HBO…
Deadwood was a pretty awesome HBO series in its day. I have to admit, I was definitely into it for its graphic depiction of life in a frontier town during the late 1800’s United States.
The series is set in a real town at the foot of the Black Hills of South Dakota. Having once been the territory of the Lakota Indians, the series picks up just after the announcement of the Black Hills Gold Rush which caused the town’s population to explode overnight.
With the population explosion, all sorts of interesting and seedy characters began arriving.
The original series only lasted 3 seasons, with a two-year break between seasons 2 and 3. In fact, now that the movie’s actually listed on IMDB.com as “in development”, I’ll have to go back and watch the whole series again. The long separation between seasons caused me to miss the entire final season.
Widely regarded as one of the best TV dramas that ended too soon, there were always rumors of two movies which would conclude things. These rumors have been circulating Hollywood for years now.
If there’s ever a villain you’ll like, it will be McShane’s character, Al Swearengen.
Throughout the series, these two lock horns as the central story to many minor plots. If you like cowboys, Indians, the frontier era of the U.S. just after the Civil War, and violence, this is the show for you.
Recently, Ian McShane has gone on record saying
“…[the] two hour movie script has been delivered to HBO. If they don’t deliver [a finished product], blame them.”
So we’ll keep our fingers crossed this isn’t just another tease. Stay tuned to Pop Culture Pipe Bomb for more news on Deadwood as it develops and all of your TV, movie, gaming, comics, wrestling, and music news.
