‘Game of Thrones’ Teaser ‘The Long Walk’ Has Been Released

HBO have finally released a first trailer for Game of Thrones seventh season, titled “The Long Walk”.

Whilst the trailer itself doesn’t seem to feature any footage from the show itself, much like the teaser that come before it, it does elude to the current social standings and events coming for the seventh season.

It switches between three respective rulers in the show walking down the halls, to a throne room and then taking a seat on their respective chairs – Jon Snow, hailed King of the North at the end of the 6th season, walks to sit at the high table where the North has declared it’s alliance to him and his fight against the threat beyond the wall.

Daenerys Targaryan, Mother of Dragons, walks through what could be Dragonstone Castle before assuming her seat on a large formidable throne, clad in a black gown and red cape being held together by a three headed dragon – sigils of House Targaryan.

And of course, new Queen of Westoros Cersei Lannister walks through the doors to the throne room, and takes her seat upon the Iron Throne. She is wearing a long black gown with gold detailing – fitting of a queen who killed all who opposed her – including, inadvertently, her son Tommen.

And finally, one last king features; as Cersei sits upon her throne, the image pulls out and fades to a blue eye – but then it pulls out further, revealing the undeniable face of the King of the White Walkers.

The trailer does a brilliant job at lining up where everyone stands, and foreshadowing where this season will take them; Daenerys and Cersei are confident, sitting on their thrones with crooked smirks and confident in their victories and claims to Westoros – however, Jon Snow sits at his high table, looking sombre and dedicated, as he knows there is a threat much greater than any challenge for the Iron Throne coming – and everyone must be ready.

The song used is also incredibly fitting and appropriate for the three characters; Sit Down by English rock band James, with lyrics that set the scene for what’s happening;

Those who feel the breath of sadness
Sit down next to me
Those who find they’re touched by madness
Sit down next to me
Those who find themselves ridiculous
Sit down next to me
Love, in fear, in hate, in tears

The new trailer perfectly sets the tone for Game of Thrones seventh season – with chilling music and the appearances of the key three players of the show, it sets the tone for what should be a gripping follow up season to the stunning conclusion of season 6.

Game of Thrones will air on Sky and HBO on 16th July 2017.
