Game of Thrones fans got some casting news courtesy of Watchers on the Wall, giving them something bittersweet to look forward to in the upcoming Season 7. I say bittersweet because I (personally) want the show to last the full 11 seasons originally predicted when it first debuted on HBO.
WotW reports Aussie actor, Brendan Cowell, has joined the cast as Harrag the Ironborn.
Cowell is known here in the U.S. for his role as Mattai the Hebrew in The Borgias.
Harrag was a small character in the book series but WotW speculates the show-runners will tweak the character’s role a bit to feature more prominently in the TV series. According to the fansite,
“The agency lists his Director as “Various,” which might mean the character appears in multiple episodes this year.”
Don’t forget, Season 7 will be shortened to only 7 episodes and will debut much later in the year than in the past. Normally, the season starts in the late spring, but this year the debut will be held until summer to stress the fact that winter is here.
The late debut is also due to the shooting schedule.
Season 7 will see a few other new faces joining the cast: Jim Broadbent has joined, though fans are not sure what his role will be as of yet. I’m thinking he’ll have something to do with The Citadel and Samwell Tarly’s storyline
Conor McGregor is rumored to have a cameo in the upcoming season. If you’re not familiar with McGregor, check out our Wrestling & UFC page here.
