Disney Confirms Star Wars Land 2019 Opening
In the not-too-distant future, in a galaxy not-so-far away, Disney is busy preparing something really special… Star Wars Land! And a mere two days ago, Disney Parks confirmed the opening of the Star Wars-themed lands (one at Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida and one at Disneyland in Anaheim, California) will be 2019. Bob Eiger, chairman and CEO of the Walt Disney Company, made the announcement during the Q1 Earnings call, and it is safe to say I have begun saving already.
The 14-acre galactic constructions are the largest single-themed land expansions at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort. The creative minds at Disney and Lucasfilm have promised each guest will be transported to an all-new planet in the Star Wars mythos, featuring interactive droids, alien cast members, otherworldly buildings and landscapes, and, of course, plenty of stormtroopers, in a completely immersive experience. The star attraction will also be a certain infamous ‘hunk of junk’ which visitors can not only step on board but can actually pilot through space, firing laser cannons, in an epic battle against the First Order. That’s right: visitors can fly the Millenium Falcon.
No more details have been revealed, but whilst we wait, let us take another look at the gloriously detailed concept art!
