Death Stranding Will Not Be At E3

Well, it’s official, Death Stranding will not be showing anything new at E3. The official Kojima Productions Twitter announced the news yesterday. Hideo Kojima’s next video game won’t be shown off at any of the E3 conferences this year. While the news is saddening, at least they didn’t give us nothing.

A little after they announced that they weren’t going to be at E3 the official Kojima Productions Twitter tweeted a photo with a spiderweb pattern on it, and the word “Bridges.” It’s very ominous, but at least it’s something new.

Hideo Kojima tweeted a little later the same photo but in white.

A few fans have already looked at the photo and found a connection to it in one of the trailers for the game.

If you watch the trailer released at The Game Awards, you’ll see that the character that looks a lot like the director and screenwriter Guillermo Del Toro is wearing a pin.

On that pin is a spiderweb pattern over the shape of the lower 48 states and the word “Bridges” above it and the the phrase “United Cities of America” below it. It’s even the same font as the poster.

It’s safe to assume that Bridges might be a big thing in the game, that we just don’t understand yet. A lot of the trailers and posters released for the game don’t seem to make a lot of sense yet, but that’s not uncommon for Kojima games. It should all come together when we finally hear what the plot of the game is, though. Hopefully, we’ll hear more about the game at the Playstation Experience.

The Playstation Experience is Playstation’s conference they hold every year where they announce what news they’re working on and what to expect in the coming year. The Playstation Experience or PSX is usually held every year in the beginning of December and is streamed on Twitch.

This is where Last of Us 2 was announced, so it’s not too far of a stretch to think they might save a big announcement like Death Stranding for their conference.

Hideo Kojima will be at E3. He will be doing an E3 Coliseum panel with director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who directed Kong: Skull Island and is working on the film adaptation of the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

Hideo Kojima is always an interesting person to listen to and if you’re interested in game development or how people make games at all, then you should listen to a few of Hideo Kojima talks and learn about how he works.

If you want to watch Kojima’s one-on-one talk with Jordan Vogt-Roberts, you can watch online at twitch.tv/TwitchPresents on Wednesday, June 14th at 3:15pm-4:15 pm (PST).

Death Stranding is being development for Playstation exclusively and still does not have a release date yet.
