Deadpool 2 Update from Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick
Deadpool 2 has to be one of the most anticipated movies since the release of the original Deadpool movie in 2016. Being one of the highest gross paid movies can bring a lot of pressure to the writers to make sure that they do not disappoint the audience with the sequel. (Like that could happen with Deadpool).
But is sounds like the movie’s screenwriters, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernrick, are not scared off by the pressure they are receiving, in fact, they sound pretty confident, “People are probably going to have to duck us. Fox is probably going to be able to drop Deadpool 2 on a release date and everyone else is going to scatter because no one will want to come out the same weekend.” This is probably accurate, to say the least. When Deadpool 2 opens, you know that everyone will be shoving their way in to see that movie before all others.
During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter there was a lot of discussion about the Deadpool sequel, and of course, one question came to mind that we all want to know is, how close are they to starting production. Their response was, “We’re very close to a draft that we’ll go off and shoot in a couple of months and we couldn’t be more thrilled.” They continued, “We don’t want to put the cart before the horse, and often times with release dates that happens. You end up racing and you end up being forced to do something you’re not happy with.”
Which makes a lot of sense when you think about it, this probably is one of the reasons why many sequels flop because they throw out a release date to satisfy fans then bring us rushed work instead of taking their time to bring us greatness. Well lucky for us, these two, Reese and Wernrick, understand this and it sounds like they are bringing their ‘A’ game.
There is still much pressure about bringing Wolverine to Deadpool in a combo movie, which we all know may not ever happen, but while in an interview with Hollywood Reporter an idea was brought up about Deadpool meeting the real Hugh Jackman..”That’s not a bad idea. Deadpool lives in a world where Hugh Jackman is out there. He’s got the People’s Sexiest Man Alive cover that he staples to his forehead in the first movie, so maybe he could meet Hugh as Hugh. That would be really funny.”
So there you have it folks, we may see interaction after all between Deadpool and Hugh, maybe… I sure hope they put that in the Deadpool 2 sequel. But in the meantime, the duo sounds like they are sticking to a 2018 release date so that’s exciting. If I had to guess, it would probably not be until November 2018, which would give ample time for them to finish the masterpiece. ^_^
