CHiPS Trailer Debuts On Jimmy Kimmel Live. I Guess I’ll Check This Out.

So…I’m going to write this as an opinion piece. Hopefully, Big Boss Skatronixxx won’t mind me doing so.

Emotions from an OG CHiPS fan…

I just f.u.x-ing love watching TV. I watch new shows and I watch old shows. I remember watching episodes of Three’s Company, Gilligan’s Island, Starsky and Hutch, The Brady Bunch…and (of course) CHiPS when I should have been playing outside. FYI…I did that, too.

You could argue I’m a bit old. Over the hill. Whatever…

But in my defense, these shows were old when I watched them as a kid. I was watching them as re-runs. They were awesome and I never thought they needed to be remade…especially not now when Hollywood is pissing me the F.U.X. off!

I’ll refrain from ranting… But seriously, what’s going on with Hollywoodland that they can’t think of something new?

If y’all are short on ideas, let me know…I’ve got stacks and stacks of screenplays percolating. I’ll sell you one. But anyways…

On the Official CHiPs Trailer

So…this article is supposed to be about how the trailer debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. That was cool and all. You can see it below.

What I’d really like to talk about is how the trailer made me feel…cause I’m the only person I care about in this situation, you know?

The movie version is scheduled to hit the box office on March 24, 2017. Michael Peña will play Officer Frank “Ponch” Poncherello and Dax Shepard will play Officer Jon Baker.

Now, I like Peña. I’ve seen a few of his movies and he pulls off drama and comedy.

I’m not so hot on Shepard, though. I’ve only seen him in a few things. He’s always the goofy, dumb guy or asshole. I’d like to know what he’s like in real life cause his wife’s hot. So he must not be that bad, right?

Kristen Bell_Dax Shepards Wife

If you can stop staring at her legs and look at her face, you’ll notice that’s Kristen Bell.

As for the movie itself, within seconds I had this feeling that CHiPS was hitching onto the recent success of 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street.

The two main characters fit the typical stereotype of two mavericks getting assigned to work with each other, not liking each other, getting to know each other, bonding as comedic relief, and then impossibly solving a huge crime conspiracy.

In the end, they’re besties and everyone’s happy. Hollywood formula complete.

Hollywood Formula

I literally Googled “Hollywood formula” and this came up…The image is called…wait for it…Hollywood Formula.

A Roller Coaster of Emotions? In a Trailer?

I initially hated the trailer…then I kinda, sorta started to chuckle…Two minutes and thirty-five seconds later I thought to myself, “I guess I’ll check this out.” Damn…they got me.

Side note: It’s just occurred to me that the parts of the trailer I laughed at all had penis jokes in them…I guess I’m more immature than I thought. So if you like penis jokes… get ready.

I also couldn’t help but think CHiPs will go well in a buddy cop marathon on cable TV with 21 & 22 Jump Street and The Other Guys (which I freaking loved, btw).

You’ll be quoting this movie for weeks…

So there you have it, Hollywood. You’ve excited me enough to give CHiPs an “I GUESS I’LL CHECK THIS OUT” rating which is the equivalent of…I don’t know…let’s say 3 stars (I’m still working on my rating system).

I hope Tinseltown has much better in store for us this year…
