Channing Tatum Reportedly Committed to Gambit

If there is one rumor that I hear over and over again, its whether or not Channing Tatum is going to play Gambit. I swear this actor can’t make up his mind. Either that or there is someone out there who desperately wants the Magic Mike to do more than rock a thong on stage.

But seriously, though, I have heard this rumor for some time now. And the question is will Channing Tatum be Gambit? The rumor used to be that he was going to play the Gambit, which I thought was totally fine. I mean I could see him as the card-wielding Cajun accent mutant with the crazy hair, and sweet trench coat, but I always kind of thought Tatum was a bit too buff for the role, he may need to slim down a bit. But then I heard that he was not going to be a part of the X-Men franchise and thought it was his loss to not want a part in something so massive. And here it is again, reports that Channing is committed to Gambit, well ok then. Can someone get me some anti-nausea medication, getting a little dizzy with all the back and forth going on.

So now the reports state that Simon Kinberg has revealed that Channing is invested in the role of Gambit, but not to expect to see him as said character for some time yet. The rumor first started back in October, but the movie never happened so obviously Channing never got his chance to show us what he was made up of, besides having some amazing dance moves, but there is still hope that the movie will take place and will star the Tatum as Gambit, in fact, all the actors who said they would take part in the film are still very much invested in this X-Men cinema, just going to take a bit more time.

It’s in active development. It’s a movie that we hope will be ready to go by the end of this year and shoot next year. We have two or three X-Men related movies this year so it can wait for a moment. The Process has been that Channing is as determined about getting the character right as Ryan Reynolds was about Deadpool and Hugh Jackman was about this Logan movie. We know that when we get those right, the movie succeeds so we want to make sure we get Gambit right because we want him to be the beginning of a whole new franchise. –Simon Kinberg

OK so there we go, Channing Tatum is playing Gambit, that is for sure for now, and it’s going to be at least another year if not two before we get to see a franchise set for Gambit. But in the meantime, there is still plenty more X-Men movies for us to enjoy, and for me, its Logan that I am super excited about. ^_^
