We Look at Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 34

Hello, again WWE fans, Sunny here and today we’re going to take a look at the possible headline match for Wrestlemania 34, 2018.

It may be a little early to tell, what with injuries, roster changes, things getting leaked and other behind the scenes drama, but we’re going to take a look at how WWE is setting up a rivalry between two of the company’s favorite poster boys, “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar and “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns.

Many are speculating that Roman Reigns will be pushed over as the babyface over Brock Lesnar. If this is the case, then obviously the WWE is certainly crowning Reigns as the face of the company.

There are two significant matches that indicate Roman will be the face of the WWE; one match has happened already and one is to take place at Wrestlemania 33. Two of the company’s legendary talents will and have already showcased Roman at the largest stage of wrestling: Brock Lesnar and the Undertaker.

At Wrestlemania 31, the card for the WWE World Championship was none other than the Beast vs the Dog.

At this point, Roman was being pushed as a super baby face, showing promotions of him wanting the crowd to connect with him and see how hard he’d been working. Also showing his Samoan heritage by displaying popular past WWE wrestlers like Rikishi and the Rock, plus all the things a baby face would say minus the whole drink your milk, eat your veggies, and never give up lines.

The match begins with Lesnar dominating Reigns, throwing him around the ring, and hitting an F5 in not even the first 5 minutes of the match.

Instead of covering with a pin, Lesnar then continues to beat and throw Reigns around the ring. Lesnar then delivers suplex after suplex, mocking Reigns saying “Suplex city b****” as he delivers multiple suplexes as well as some vicious knees to the midsection.

The crowd is split at this point, enthusiasts happy as they were not satisfied with the results of the Royal Rumble. Having a very short-lived Daniel Bryan return, and having Roman win the rumble did not sit right with a lot of the fans. So seeing Roman take a beating was more than satisfying.

Roman makes a small comeback in which we hear the crowd start to make some noise, showing Roman still has a lot of supporters at Wrestlemania. Brock then begins to dominate Roman again as Roman stumbles around the ring taking bump after bump. Lesnar hits a second F5 as Roman kicks out. That “super predictable kick out of a finisher at mania” kick out.

Brock then begins slapping Roman in the face pretty brutally while Reigns starts mocking him. While he’s laying on the ground asking for more, the crowd starts to stir.

Lesnar hits his 3rd F5 for Roman to kick out again. Definitely a heart of a champion gimmick.  Roman pushes Lesnar into the ring post to show a  momentum turn as well as a ‘hard way’ opportunity to have Brock show some blood and to give Reigns the advantage.

Roman Reigns hits Brock Lesnar with 4 Superman Punches

Roman hits Brock with 4 Superman Punches and 2 Spears, goes in for the pin as Brock kicks out.

Roman sizes up for another Spear as Brock catches him mid-air to hit him with another F5. As they both lay in the ring, Seth Rollins‘ music goes off.

Rollins runs in with his Money in the Bank briefcase and cashes it in for a chance at the title making the match into a triple threat. Seth kicks Roman out of the ring and while hitting Brock with the Curb Stomp, sets up for another Stomp to Brock only to be caught.

Brock lifts Rollins up onto his shoulders for an F5 when he is hit with a Spear from Roman. Rollins then hits Reigns with a Curb Stomp to capitalize and hits Roman with the pin to win the championship.

Definitely unfinished business between Brock and Roman. Was this a  little foreshadowing being done?

The next match further hinting a Brock vs Roman rematch at Wrestlemania 34 is the upcoming Wrestlemania 33 match to determine who’s the king of the yard.

Foreshadowed at the Royal Rumble, Roman eliminates the Undertaker as they share a staredown with the Wrestlemania logo behind them.

As this year went by we heard Roman repeatedly call the WWE his “yard”. Similar to the Undertaker’s yard saying back in the biker gimmick day not to mention Undertaker’s special “This is my yard.” It’s clear that Roman was going to feud with the Dead Man.

Now we’re set up for the Dead Man vs. the Big Dog. The Undertaker has only lost to one opponent in this stage of Wrestlemania. That was Roman’s former opponent, Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 30 in a rather controversial win.

You have to think, the Undertaker can’t have that many matches left in him. Look at his Royal Rumble performance. He was barely able to walk in the ring. Are we looking at Undertaker’s last Wrestlemania? A question that has been asked for the past 3 Wrestlemanias.

At this point it looks like Roman will be taking the yard, making the list of people who has beaten Undertaker at Wrestlemania an exclusive two-man list: Brock Lesnar, and Roman Reigns.  Only further proving Vince McMahon’s obsession with making Reigns the face of the company: an in-house bred wrestler.

Do you guys agree with this match? Are we over speculating? If not Roman Reigns, who do you feel should be representing WWE as the poster boy?
