AMC Airs ‘Preacher’ Season 2 Trailer

After the seventh season finale of The Walking Dead, AMC decided to treat fans to a trailer for their other adapted-from-comic-book television show Preacher.

The second season will have 13 episodes, and will continue where the first season left off as Preacher Jesse Custer, his thief/assassin ex-girlfriend Tulip, and his best friend, the Irish vampire Cassidy, as they continue on their road trip to find God and bring him back to his seat in Heaven.

Based on the comic book franchise published by Vertigo of the same name, Preacher is an incredibly strange and wild supernatural drama that follows a preacher hailing from West Texas, Jesse Custer, as he struggles to align his beliefs and past with his role as taking over his fathers church. However, everything changes when he’s possessed by a mysterious being that makes people do whatever he says to them – unfortunately, very literally.

'Show her your heart' is a poor choice of words

Through attracting the unwanted attention of angels, Jesse finds out that the creature is called Genesis, and is an abomination too powerful for anyone to control – so powerful, it has frightened away God himself.

Preacher has been developed for television by Seth Rogen (Pineapple ExpressThe Green HornetSausage Party) and Evan Goldberg and showrunner Sam Catlin, starring Dominic Cooper (Dracula UntoldAgent CarterMamma Mia!), Joseph Gilgun (MisfitsRipper StreetThis Is England ’90) and Ruth Negga (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.LovingMisfits). Graham McTavish (24Prison BreakThe Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies) will be returning as The Cowboy, a.k.a. The Saint of Killers.
