30th Annual Royal Rumble Results: The Viper Strikes

What’s really good? Shout out to all Smackdown Live fans. I’m Danny Finn of The PopCulturePipeBomb. I’m here with another Pro Wresting Beat. Cause the beat goes on and on…DIG IT!!!

Sheesh, I didn’t see this one coming! I’ll get to that later. First, let’s get things started with the Royal Rumble Kick Off Show.

Opening Six Women’s Tag Match: Naomi, Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch Vs. Alexa Bliss, Mickie James, Natalya

The match begins at a good pace. Natalya selling the story between her and Nikki Bella. Natalya tags in Alexa Bliss to start the match. Bella and Bliss start off with some wrestling 101. Naomi comes in, she and Bella deliver a double Dropkick to the face of Bliss. All six ladies are in the ring. Naomi and her crew simultaneously suplex Bliss, Nattie, and James.

Bliss takes over the match, working over Lynch and making frequent tags. Lynch tries to fight back digs deep and makes the big tag to Naomi. Naomi feeling the glow comes in cleaning house over her rivals. Ms. Glow now one on one with Bliss gives the champ her infamous leaping kicks. Naomi goes to the top rope and finishes the champ with a Split Leg Moonsault for the win.

Winner by pinfall: Naomi, Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch

Backstage Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho gives their always entertaining interview. Owens spoke of retaining his WWE Universal Title and wanted Jericho to enjoy the view from the shark cage.

Raw Tag Team Title Match: Sheamus and Cesaro (C) Vs Anderson and Gallows

The four gladiators have caused so much havoc in their battles leading to this title match, that two referees are needed to officiate. Cesaro tries to end the match early but Anderson survives. Cesaro and Sheamus pick up the pace, making fast tags and using great tandem moves. Anderson desperately makes the tag to Gallows. Gallows tried to shift the momentum but Cesaro ends it with a flying European Uppercut.

Cesaro and Sheamus attempt to keep with their strategy but The Club relied on their sneaky style to gain the advantage. Gallows offense is short-lived, as Cesaro muscles out of a suplex and gives one of his own. Cesaro makes the tag to Sheamus. Sheamus enters the ring firing off big shots and landing high spots. The champs continue to work as a pair. Anderson tries to cheat with a cradle pin putting his feet on the ropes. The second referee steps in and stops him.

It becomes a seesaw battle for a while until Sheamus accidentally takes out the ref. The second referee takes control of the match. The finish was amazing. Cesaro coming close with the victory slapping on the Sharpshooter. Gallows and Anderson battle out, then lands the Magic Killer. Cesaro comes in to save the titles. Anderson catches Cesaro in a roll up, pulls the tights for the sweet win.

Winner and NEW Raw Tag Team Champions: Anderson and Gallows

Grudge Match: Sasha Banks Vs. Nia Jax

A classic story of power vs. heart, David vs. Goliath. Sasha immediately throws the first shots. Sasha tries to take over the match, but every time Banks tried to take over, Jax used her power to shut it down. One opportunity Banks goes for the Bank Statement, Jax was just too strong and muscles out. Nia decided to quit playing around with Sasha and attacks her injured knee.

Sasha using her speed got some solid offense in, getting aggressive, Sasha goes for it all with high-risk maneuvers. Sasha dipped in the well too many times as Jax catches Banks with a pop-up Samoan Drop for the win.

Winner by pinfall: Nia Jax

Raw Women’s Title: Charlotte (C) Vs. Bayley

Can Bayley become the champ? Can she also stop Charlotte’s PPV streak? A lot of obstacles Bayley had to overcome to make her dreams come true. Charlotte shows her genetic superiority early in the match. Bayley proving she can hang with her originality and high-flying moves. Charlotte reminds us that she’s the daughter of the dirtiest player in the game and turns the tide of the match.

The champ turns up the aggression to break Bayley spirit. Charlotte, really wearing Bayley down. Bayley tries to rally only to get caught by a big boot. Charlotte continues to punish Bayley, applying tremendous pressure to Bayley’s neck. The champ over-confident gives Bayley some breathing room to shift the momentum. Bayley starts to land big shots trying to take some steam out of the “queen”. Bayley came close to a victory Macho Man like elbow off the top ropes. The champ digs deep getting Bayley down and locking in the Figure Four.

Charlotte bridges to the Figure Eight, holding on the ropes for extra leverage. The ref spots the infraction and makes the champ break the hold. Charlotte goes up for the Moonsault but Bayley gets her knees up in time. Charlotte still trying to go aerial, Bayley leaps up to counter. Charlotte pushes Bayley off, crashes the outside floor. Bayley dazed gets up to the apron, the champ out of nowhere lands the Natural Selection onto the hardest part of the ring. Charlotte rolls Bayley into the ring and puts her dream on hold for another day.

Winner Still Raw Women’s Champion: Charlotte Flair

No DQ WWE Universal Title Match W/ Chris Jericho in a Shark Cage: Kevin Owens (C) Vs. Roman Reigns

Jericho was hesitant to get in the cage, using it to take advantage of Reigns. Both KO and his best friend attacks the challenger. Roman fights back and puts Jericho into the shark cage. The match officially begins with a KO sneak attack. Both men take the fight to the crowd. As they battle in front of the foreign announce table, Roman takes the advantage bringing KO back to the ringside.

Owens breaks Reigns momentum slinging the big dog into the steel steps. Owens makes the match brutal incorporating weapons. The battles goes back and forth with Jericho looking down. Reigns takes control of the match, but Kevin fires back with a Superkick. Kevin puts Roman into a table the was laid out by Roman moments before. Owens ascends to the top and lands a huge frog splash crashing through the table.

Owens brings Reigns into the ring and puts his offense into high gear. Romans powers through fighting back. Desperate,  Jericho throws down brass knuckles to his best friend. Owens puts them on and Superman Punches Roman. Owens wants to finish Roman with a Power Bomb through the chair. Roman digs deep and reverses to a back body drop for a two count. Counter after counter, Reigns lands his Superman Punch and Owens falls into the chairs stacked on the outside floor.

Roman takes it back to the Shield days and powerbombs Owens through the announce table. Reigns tasting victory, but the sweet taste turns sour with an interference from Braun Strowman. Strowman smashes Roman through a table with a running Powerslam. Owens wakes up, crawls over and drapes his arm over the incapacitated Reigns to regain the title belt.

Winner Still WWE Universal Champion: Kevin Owens W/ Chris Jericho

Backstage at the Rumble Lottery station, both respective brand GM’s wait for Sami Zayn to make his pick. Dean Ambrose comes out and helps Zayn with his anxiety. Dean shows Sami his pick, it’s number 8.

WWE Cruiserweight Tile Match: Rich Swann (C) Vs. Neville

This match went from 0-100 real quick with counters and pure aggression from both WWE Superstars. Neville takes control with Missile Dropkick. Neville keeps the pressure with chokes and near falls. Neville is trying to prove to Rich Swann why he’s the king of the cruiserweights. Swann creates separation with a counter Superkick. Swann goes to the air almost winning the match. Near fall after bear fall, Swann tries to keep his title.

Neville ties to regain the advantage but Swann had his opponent well scouted. Swann keeps the ball rolling knocking Neville with another Superkick. Neville showed he had Rich well scouted as well countering the champ with a Superplex. Neville immediately locks in the Modified Rings Of Saturn to be crowned the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

WWE World Title Match: AJ Styles (C) Vs. John Cena

As champion and challenger circle around the ring sizing each other up, Cena lands the first big shot. Styles tuns things around using his technical skills. John tries to turn the tide but Styles athleticism is too much. AJ looms for the win with a nasty forearm but only gets a two count. Cena with his power slightly shifts the balance, but AJ answers back with some power of his own.

Cena goes old school giving Styles some ruthless aggression knocking down the champ. Styles, too gifted reverses with a Pelé kick.  Styles tries for the finish with the Phenomenal Forearm. But Cena buys time to breathe with a Facebuster. Back and forth the action goes, as Styles starts getting the best of the exchange locking in the Calf Crusher. Cena reverses to the STFU. Styles transitions to his own STF. Cena muscles out and lifts up AJ for the AA. Styles wiggles out goes for another reversal to get caught in the Figure Four.

Styles, again transitions into a Cross Armbreaker. Cena takes a page from Rampage Jackson and Powebombs the champ. Styles can’t put Cena away with the Styles Clash. Cena pops up and lands a Canadian Destroyer for near victory. Both men begin to land big spots trying to but the other away. Cena goes for it all, as he takes AJ up for a Super AA. Styles kicks out goes to the ring apron looking again for the Phenomenal Forearm, Cena catches Styles and drops him with an AA. Cena picks up Styles and give AJ two more AA’s to make history matching Ric Flair record of 16x World Champion
