2017 World Video Game Hall of Fame Inductees!

The Strong Museum of Play has its inductees for the 2017 World Video Game Hall of Fame. Earlier in the year, it was reported that Mortal Kombat, Final Fantasy VII, Portal, and Resident Evil were notable mentions to make the 2017 HoF. Sadly, these games have fallen to the supremacy of Donkey Kong, Halo: Combat Evolved, Pokemon Red and Green, and Street Fighter II.

Which is weird because previous years inducted 6 games consecutively while this year will be inducting 5 games. They could have easily slid in one of the notable mentions above to take that 6th spot.

The Strong established the World Video Game Hall of Fame back in 2015 and is home to any forms of play and their history and culture.

“The Strong’s World Video Game Hall of Fame® recognizes individual electronic games of all types—arcade, console, computer, handheld, and mobile—that have enjoyed popularity over a sustained period and have exerted influence on the video game industry or on popular culture and society in general.”

So let’s recap all the games in the Hall of Fame from the past 2 years.
